Arsenal returned to winning form in the Champions League on Wednesday, beating Slavia Prague 2-1 in the Czech capital thanks to first-half strikes from Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres.

According to The Sun Malaysia, the victory lifts the Premier League champions to 10 points from their four group-phase matches, following a 2-2 draw away to Bayern last month. Slavia remain on a single point.

Mikel Arteta made six alterations to the side that won 1-0 at Liverpool on Sunday, and his team settled quickly on a cold evening. The opener came after nine minutes when Gyokeres chested down a long clearance from goalkeeper David Raya and instantly found Madueke racing down the right. The winger outpaced the home defence and drilled a low finish past Slavia's Ukrainian teenage goalkeeper Nazar Domchak.

Gyokeres, one of those brought into the starting line-up, doubled the advantage on 38 minutes. He exchanged passes with Mikel Merino at the edge of the area before sending a tidy shot in off the far post.

The Czech champions offered little before the interval, their only opening falling to captain Tomas Holes, who shot wide from inside the box. They were far more aggressive after the break, determined to avoid a repeat of the 3-0 home defeat they suffered against Arsenal in this competition a year earlier.

Polish midfielder Oskar Kubiak tested Raya with an effort moments after the restart. With a quarter of an hour remaining, Gabriel Magalhaes and Raya each cleared a header off the line in quick succession, and David Zima sent a shot over the bar. Raya later turned a Kubiak header onto the post.

Slavia finally found the net in the 90th minute when David Jurasek's cross evaded the Arsenal defence and Wiktor Nowak lashed home from close range.

The result means Slavia have now gone 23 consecutive Champions League matches without a win, leaving them one game short of the all-time record set by AEK Athens between 1992 and 2006.
