Lando Norris has launched a new fashion collection ahead of the United States Grand Prix, transforming a former Austin fuel station into a pop-up store inspired by 1970s racing garages. The launch gives the McLaren driver a fresh project away from the circuit as he navigates a challenging Formula 1 title defence.

Key Points:

Lando’s Original Service Department is a 12-piece collection featuring workwear-inspired apparel, T-shirts and caps under Norris’ LN4 brand.

The Austin pop-up at 1500 San Jacinto Boulevard offers custom postcards and patches through McLaren sponsor Google Gemini.

Norris sits sixth in the Drivers’ Championship with 201 points, 139 behind leader Kimi Antonelli.

Norris describes McLaren’s car as “mentally draining” to drive, while the team holds third in the Constructors’ standings, seven points ahead of Red Bull.

Norris Brings 1970s Racing Garage Style to Austin

Norris is expanding his fashion portfolio with Lando’s Original Service Department, a 12-piece collection released under his LN4 brand. Drawing inspiration from the look of 1970s racing garages, the range features workwear-style clothing, T-shirts and caps for both men and women.

To showcase the collection, Norris has converted a former fuel station into a pop-up store at 1500 San Jacinto Boulevard in downtown Austin. The store opened on Wednesday and welcomes visitors from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday during the United States Grand Prix weekend.

Fans can also create personalised postcards and patches with support from Google Gemini, one of McLaren’s sponsors. Norris’ other brand, Quadrant, held its own pop-up in Austin earlier in the week.

A Fashion Launch Amid a Challenging Title Defence

The new collection arrives during a difficult period for Norris on the track. The reigning world champion is currently sixth in the Drivers’ Championship with 201 points, trailing championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 139 points.

McLaren is also facing mounting pressure in the Constructors’ Championship. Despite entering the season as the reigning team champion, the Woking outfit sits third in the standings, just seven points ahead of a resurgent Red Bull.

Norris has openly discussed the difficulties of extracting performance from McLaren’s current car, describing it as “mentally draining” to drive after the Singapore Grand Prix.

Norris Explains Why McLaren’s Car Is So Demanding

According to Norris, the car leaves drivers with very little room for error through corners. He explained that getting the most out of it requires constant adjustments and precise inputs, with neither the front nor rear of the car able to deliver the necessary performance without significant driver intervention.

That demand for concentration has made it increasingly difficult to put together consistent qualifying laps. Norris also reflected on how rewarding McLaren’s earlier pole positions had been, given the skill and effort required to extract the car’s maximum potential.

However, the challenge becomes more frustrating when the car simply lacks the pace to compete at the front. Norris believes that no amount of effort can produce a remarkable result when the underlying performance is insufficient.

With McLaren fighting to retain third place in the Constructors’ standings and Norris trailing Antonelli in the title race, the United States Grand Prix offers another opportunity for the team to assess its performance and work towards a stronger finish to the season.
